What is secondary consultation?

The secondary consultation process may address questions clinicians may have regarding clinical formulation, crisis management, treatment planning, or treatment options.

Consultations typically occur via telephone unless the clinician is able to attend Spectrum for-face-to face consultations. Consultations may be one-off or on-going, as required.

Clinicians working within the public mental health system can request secondary consultation via telephone with one of our senior clinicians. This can be organised by contacting Spectrum.

If your client has been accepted into the Spectrum Complex Care Service, consultants from our Complex Care team can travel to the local AMHS for secondary consultation.

Spectrum will consider fee-for-service requests for Secondary Consultation services for inquiries coming from outside the public mental health system and/or outside the State of Victoria.
