In 2007 Spectrum clinicians developed the ‘Wise Choices’ group therapy program. Wise Choices is based on Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT), with modifications that apply specifically to people experiencing symptoms of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The program has been published in a manual and its effectiveness demonstrated in an empirical study.
This ‘Wise Choices’ group treatment model has been utilised to good effect in private and public mental health settings.
‘Wise Choices’ (ACT) aims to increase psychological flexibility. The ‘Wise Choices’ (ACT) approach considers that it is more the actions we choose to take, rather than our thoughts or feelings, which make the most difference in our lives.
Our ‘Wise Choices’ Program will recommence in 2018.
